Why A “Full Spectrum” Product?
The “full spectrum” of active cannabinoids is what makes these products so effective. Cannabinoids, terpenes and other chemical compounds found in cannabis achieve limited success when working in isolation or as individual components. Research suggests that when these individual components of the cannabis plant support one another, therapeutic benefits are magnified. Together, they produce an effect that is greater than the sum of their parts. This phenomenon is known as the “entourage effect.” The entourage effect supports the idea that whole plant medicine is superior to pure extracts.
Are These Products Legal?
On December 20, 2018 President Donald J. Trump signed into law the 2018 Agricultural Improvement Act, otherwise known as the 2018 farm bill. This act contained language specifically inserted by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (KY) that completely legalized industrial hemp and ended nearly 80 years of prohibition on the plant. Hemp is now completely exempt from the definition of the controlled substance act (CSA).
Furthermore, the 2018 farm bill clarified the definition of hemp — often limited to fiber and seed — to include the entire plant, specifically the floral parts and cannabinoids derived from it. This put into motion the legal framework for the already burgeoning marketplace for hemp and CBD extracts.
The 2018 farm bill also opened up the ability for tribal lands to grow hemp and made provisions for USDA crop insurance and grants.
Section 7606 of the Farm Bill defines industrial hemp as cannabis plants with <0.3% THC. These products contain a full spectrum of cannabinoids, including THC and CBD. To maintain compliance with all laws, these products are rigorously tested to ensure a level of <0.3% THC.
Will They Get Me “High”?
No. While there are at least 113 known cannabinoids produced by the hemp plant, cannabis is identified by its two active ingredients: THC and CBD. THC is the only molecule in the cannabis family with a psychoactive component. It’s the only one that will get you “high.” CBD, even at extremely high doses, will not make you feel “high.”
There are hundreds of other cannabinoids, terpenes and phytonutrients present in the cannabis plant that are beneficial to overall health and wellness; unfortunately, they are improperly associated with the properties of one molecule, THC. To maintain compliance with all laws, these products are rigorously tested to ensure a level of <0.3% THC, so they do not have a psychotropic effect.
Will CBD Show Up On A Drug Test?
We are committed to transparency here.
There are a lot of variables to consider, from the drug test itself (different manufacturers, different detection levels, sensitivities, etc.), and the individual that consumes the CBD product.
- Is your product a full spectrum product? Meaning, are there cannabinoids other than CBD (which there are in these products)?
- How much is consumed and how often?
- Medical factors, such as medications taken, liver and/or kidney disease.
- The metabolism of the individual.
These factors are highly individualized, so there’s no “correct dose” to stay below a THC threshold on a drug screen. The short answer is yes, it’s possible to fail a drug test with any CBD product. (Yes, even isolate CBD.)
What’s more likely is that the hemp extract triggered a false-positive. This is because the most commonly used drug tests, urine and saliva immunoassay tests, are common because they are quick, cheap, and easy. But unfortunately, they aren’t very specific. That means they can confuse one molecule for another, especially when they look alike. This can happen with CBD and THC, which would trigger a FALSE positive.
We can provide more information upon request.
These products do contain less than 0.3% THC and an array of other rare cannabinoids. Because of this, we CANNOT guarantee a negative drug test. There is a small chance, depending on the test and the individual, these products may trigger a false positive. If you are worried about passing a drug test for your employer or other reason, we do not recommend taking these products as there is a chance you will test positive.
Quality Assurance
Tested to rigorous standards to achieve the highest quality, premium hemp oil product on the market. We can provide a Certificate of Analysis for each lot to prove quality and potency. Lot number and a link to the Certificate of Analysis is listed on each individual package.
These hemp oil products are 100% grown and processed in the USA and certified by the Kentucky Dept. of Agriculture. Ananda Hemp is one of the largest producers of domestic hemp, grown by 8th generation Kentucky farmers on over 500 acres.
Dosing Recommendation
Start with 1 dropper under the tongue after dinner (not too close to bedtime) for one or two nights. Hold the hemp oil in your mouth for one-two minutes and swallow with water. If you feel comfortable you can add another dropperful again after breakfast. After a week or so, if you feel you need more, you can continue to increase the dosage until you feel your symptoms subside.
What Does The Product Taste Like?
It has an earthy, flowery taste. As it is absorbed sublingually, if taste is an issue, we recommend our Ananda Professional Soft Gels. It is not as quick acting as our tinctures since it needs to go through your digestive system. Additionally, some of the active cannabinoids are lost through your liver’s normal metabolic processes. The soft gels are 15mg per dosage, instead of 10mg per dosage, to accommodate that loss. Therefore, these products are equally as effective. The only difference is that the soft gels simply take longer to feel their full effects as they go through your body’s normal digestive process.
